Heart Disease Symptoms are called by many different names.
Heart disease symptoms are all part of cardiovascular disease which can affect the whole body. When blockages occur in the arteries, the diagnosis is usually named for the part of the body affected. When the cerebral arteries in the brain are obstructed, we call it a stroke. If the carotid artery is blocked so that it cannot supply oxygen and nutrients to the heart, it is called a heart attack. Likewise, if the blockage occurs in the coronary arteries, the diagnosis is angina pectoris and the victim usually feels gripping pain in his or her chest and sometimes radiating down the arm. See the chart below for additional afflictions that depend on where the obstruction is located.
