The Hallelujah Diet
The Hallelujah Diet is one example of a plant food based vegan diet. It includes no animal products. Scientific research is finding that there is a direct relationship between the amounts of animal products (beef, chicken, pork, milk, cheese, etc) that are consumed and the rates of cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis and many other ailments common in western society. In addition, thousands of people have discovered when they change their diet from the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) to a plant-based diet including abundant raw vegetables, most, if not all, of their pain and disease conditions are eliminated. We discovered this in our own family. The China Project, by T. Colin Campbell, is an excellent resource to learn more about studies linking nutrition and disease. To learn more about the Hallelujah Diet, we recommend The Hallelujah Diet Book. The Hallelujah Diet book includes testimonials, recipes and a workbook section to help you implement new lifestyle changes.
What do I eat on the Hallelujah Diet?
Breakfast:
The first thing we do in the morning is to mix a rounded teaspoon of BarleyMax in four to six ounces of pure water. We find it easiest to shake it up in a small cup or jar with a secure fitting lid.Later in the morning we drink an 8-ounce serving of fresh carrot juice. Sometimes, we add other vegetables to our juice, but a minimum of 50% carrot juice adds a refreshing sweetness to the other vegetables. Vegetables to juice include: broccoli, spinach, beets (in small amounts), celery, and/or parsley. You can look at some of our juicing recipes for more ideas.
Lunch
Before you prepare or eat lunch, have another serving of BarleyMax. This adds another serving of cancer-fighting, disease-eliminating nutrients to your daily menu. It's best to consume BarleyMax on an empty stomach about 20 minutes before eating. This will give you the most benefits from your green juice. Lunch is either a raw vegetable salad or raw fruit. If you reserve eating cooked food until supper, you can easily increase your raw food consumption to the recommended 75-85%. There are innumerable benefits to increasing the amount of raw plant food in our diet. We find that an all-raw-lunch keeps us alert and energetic in the afternoon. We never feel like falling asleep in a meeting.

Mid-Afternoon
If available, a refreshing glass of chilled carrot/vegetable juice is a wonderful mid-afternoon energizer. If fresh juice is not available, a serving of CarrotJuiceMax, BeetMax, or some raw vegetables or fruit are next best.
Supper
Before dinner, have another serving of BarleyMax. After 20-30 minutes, have a large green salad with leaf lettuce (never iceberg, which has few nutrients), along with a variety of vegetables. After the salad enjoy some healthy, cooked food, like steamed veggies, baked potato, baked sweet potato, squash, etc.) If you only have cooked food at the supper meal after consuming a hearty raw vegetable salad, it will be easy to eat 75-85% raw for the day, giving your body the building blocks for healthy new cells.
Evening Snack
If you desire a snack a couple hours after eating, try a piece of juicy, fresh fruit or a glass of fresh juice from apples or pears.
Besides all the health benefits we gained from the Hallelujah Diet, we also noticed that our food bill went down. We consumed only one-third to one-half of what we ate before. Our cravings for snack food and junk food diminished. If we ate a healthy, mostly raw meal for dinner, we woke up refreshed after seven hours of sleep and we weren't hungry before lunchtime. We hope you enjoy the benefits of the Hallelujah Diet.
