Man Health 101 supplies wellness solutions for the men you care about.
We haven't always been in tune with man health solutions...
In 1995, Tom and I were newly married and spending the summer working in Glacier National Park, Montana. We were over 1300 miles away from all of our friends and family when Tom began coughing up blood one day during lunch. Fortunately, I didn't see the blood, but Tom was in the bathroom quite a while.
"We need to go to the emergency room."
When he came out, he said very calmly, "We need to go to the emergency room." It was clear he was in a lot of pain.
I was terrified. We drove an hour to the nearest hospital, in Kalispell, Montana and waited for a doctor to see him. Tom was experiencing a burning pain under his sternum.
"You'll need to take this medication for the rest of your life."
The doctor did a procedure to insert a camera into Tom's esophagus to locate the problem. In the pictures we could see an ugly, raw ulcerated spot at the base of his esophagus.
During a follow-up visit, the doctor prescribed Pepcid, which was not yet available over-the-counter. He told Tom he would need to take this medication for the rest of his life to prevent acid reflux from causing further damage...I thought there must be a better way. Health does not come from a pill which only addresses the symptoms.
That same summer we received news that Tom's Mom had a heart attack and her doctors gave her only three months to live.
We began searching for answers to our health questions for ourselves and our family.
We moved to California to take care of Tom's mom. As a result of our research and implementing new lifestyle strategies, Tom's mom survived and is still with us along with her 90-year-old husband. Tom was able to throw away the Pepcid (Click on the "Our Story" link to the left for our health improvements).
Man Health 101 for Women provides an opportunity to share what we've learned to help other families overcome illness and disease as naturally as possible.
According to research studies, men are less likely than women to visit a health care professional even when they have symptoms of serious disease. This is all the more reason for us to help keep the men around us healthy through diet and lifestyle. Man Health 101 for Women will share authoritative health resources, man-pleasing recipes, and healthy lifestyle inspiration to help you.
In my local health coaching I have come across scores of women who are challenged in supporting their man in health strategies. Many have husbands who do not properly take care of themselves. Some of these men continue in habits they know to be threatening their health and longevity. Their loving wives are very concerned about the consequences.
Man Health 101 will help you to communicate your love and concern through wellness solutions that will benefit your man.
